James Wilkins is a General and Oesophago-gastric Surgeon in Dunedin. James was raised in Dunedin and graduated from the University of Otago. He went on to complete surgical training in New Zealand before sub-specialty fellowships in Dunedin, Auckland and the UK. James was delighted to bring this expert knowledge home when he came back to Dunedin with his family in 2024.
At Intus, James focuses on providing timely expert care and investigations. His patient-centred approach involves careful listening, assessment, explanation and customised plans.
James cares for people with a wide range of abdominal conditions. He has particular expertise in surgery for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease including hiatus hernias, and in gallstone disease.
James works at Dunedin Hospital and is Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of where he enjoys teaching the next generation of New Zealand doctors.
