Weight Loss Care

Weight loss care involves understanding the reasons why weight may be difficult to manage and offering support to improve health and wellbeing. Your care will begin with a thorough assessment, including medical history and physical examination. You may be offered further tests, such as blood tests or imaging, to check for health conditions related to weight.

Integrated Support for Weight Loss

Because weight management is complex we provide integrated care from a team including:

  • Doctors – to review your health, explain treatment options, and guide your care.

  • Dietitians – to help you with safe and effective food choices.

  • Psychologists – to support your wellbeing, motivation, and behaviour change.

  • Physiotherapists – to advise on safe, personalised physical activity.

  • Nurses – to provide ongoing care, education, and coordination, and to support you throughout your treatment and recovery.

This team works together to provide you with a plan tailored to your needs.

Treatment Options for Weight Loss

Medical treatment

Some people may benefit from obesity management medicines that help reduce appetite and improve blood sugar control. These include GLP-1 receptor agonists such as Semaglutide (Wegovy®)or Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®). Your doctor will discuss whether these may be suitable for you.

Bariatric surgery

For some people weight loss surgery (such as gastric sleeve or bypass) may be considered. This can support significant, long-term weight loss, but requires commitment to lifestyle changes and ongoing follow-up.

If you have had weight loss surgery before you may benefit from further surgery. Revision procedures can help if weight loss has been incomplete, if weight regain occurs, or if complications arise.

Aftercare and Long-Term Support

Weight loss treatment is most effective when followed by ongoing care. This long-term, integrated approach helps ensure weight loss is safe, sustainable, and supports your overall health.

Follow up includes regular reviews to track your progress and management of nutritional requirements – monitoring vitamins, minerals, and protein intake to avoid deficiencies.

Your doctor will talk through the treatment options that might be right for you. The team will support you with information, guidance, and follow-up tailored to your situation.

Your weight loss care specialists are here to answer your questions and address any concerns.
