Gastric Band Management

Management of the gastric band includes ongoing adjustments, monitoring for complications, and, in some cases, removal or conversion to a different weight loss procedure, such as gastric bypass.

The adjustable gastric band was once a popular form of weight loss surgery. It involves placing a silicone band around the upper part of the stomach to create a small pouch, limiting food intake and helping you feel full sooner.

While some people achieve good results with the band, it does not suit everyone long-term. Over time, some people may experience issues with tolerance, side effects, or insufficient weight loss.

At Intus, we offer comprehensive gastric band care with an experienced integrated weight loss team, including a surgeon, nurse, dietitian, psychologist, and physiotherapist - to support your long-term health and decision-making.
