Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Abdominoplasty, or “tummy tuck,” is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and, when required, tightens the underlying muscles. The aim is to create a smoother, firmer contour.

Changes to the abdomen may occur after pregnancy, weight loss, ageing, or previous surgery. These can leave loose skin, weakened muscles, or fat that do not improve with diet or exercise.

Abdominoplasty can be performed for cosmetic reasons, to improve comfort and mobility, or as part of reconstructive care after significant weight loss.

What's Involved in Abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty is usually under general anaesthetic. The incision is made low across the abdomen, so that it can be hidden by clothing. Depending on your needs, the procedure may be performed one of two ways, full abdominoplasty or mini abdominoplasty.

Your surgeon and their team will guide you through your options, set realistic expectations, and support you throughout your recovery.

Abdominoplasty is not a substitute for weight loss or exercise, and best results are achieved when you are at a stable weight.

As with any surgery, there are risks including bleeding, infection, seroma (fluid collection), or delayed healing. Your surgeon will discuss these with you.

Full Abdominoplasty

A dull abdominoplasty involves removing excess skin and fat from above and below the navel, with tightening of the muscles and repositioning of the navel.

Mini Abdominoplasty

A mini abdominoplasty is a smaller procedure targeting the lower abdomen only.
