Gender Affirming Procedures
Gender affirming surgery supports people to align their physical appearance with their gender identity. For transgender and non-binary people, these procedures can be an important part of affirming identity and feeling more at home in one’s body.

Procedures can include chest surgery (top surgery), and tracheal shave (Adam’s apple reduction). Each person’s goals and path are unique, and surgery must be tailored to suit both function and aesthetics.
Your Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon will ensure that your care is approached with safety, respect, and surgical precision - with careful attention to natural appearance, balanced proportion, and minimal scarring.
What's Involved in gender affirming surgery?
Your surgeon will discuss your goals with care and honesty, explain all available options, and support your recovery every step of the way - helping you feel more comfortable, confident, and affirmed in your body and identity.

Top Surgery
Top surgery is a procedure to reshape the chest in alignment with gender identity. In masculinising top surgery, breast tissue is removed, and the chest is contoured to appear flat and firm. Feminising top surgery involves breast augmentation using implants to create a fuller chest. Both surgeries are performed under general anaesthesia.

Tracheal Shave
Tracheal shave is a procedure to reduce the prominence of the Adam’s apple. A small incision is made in a natural skin crease, and part of the cartilage is carefully shaved down to create a smoother neck contour. This is a relatively quick operation usually performed under general anaesthetic or sedation.
