Aesthetic Surgery: Breast

Aesthetic (cosmetic) breast surgery includes a range of procedures designed to improve the shape, size, and symmetry of the breasts or chest. These treatments aim to enhance body confidence, restore balance after pregnancy, weight loss or ageing, and support gender-affirming goals.

Breast shape and size can vary greatly between individuals and may change over time due to age, hormones, weight fluctuation, or life events. You may notice volume loss, drooping (ptosis), asymmetry, or discomfort from overly large breasts or residual glandular tissue.

Our specialist plastic and reconstructive surgery team offers individualised options tailored to your goals, anatomy, and lifestyle.

We offer:

  • Breast reduction to relieve discomfort or improve proportions by removing excess breast tissue

  • Surgery for gynaecomastia to remove excess breast tissue in men

  • Gender affirming ‘top’ surgery to align physical features with gender identity

Why Consider Surgery?

People choose surgery for a variety of personal and medical reasons, including:

  • A desire for fuller or more symmetrical breasts

  • Discomfort or posture issues from overly large breasts

  • Restoring body image after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or significant weight loss

  • Feeling that the chest does not match their identity (gender dysphoria)

  • Wanting a firmer, lifted shape or correction of congenital differences

These procedures can improve physical comfort, clothing fit, and confidence when chosen for the right reasons and with realistic expectations.

What's Involved in Aesthetic Breast Surgery

Treatment plans are customised and may include one or more procedures. Your plastic surgeon will discuss your goals and recommend the most suitable approach for your needs.

Whether seeking enhancement, reduction, or gender-affirming care, our team is here to support you with compassionate guidance, honest advice, and a strong focus on natural, confident results.

You will be supported by a team focused on both the technical and aesthetic aspects of your outcome, including scar placement, breast symmetry, and natural proportions.

The Procedure

Procedures are usually performed under general anaesthetic in a hospital or day surgery setting.

Depending on the type of surgery, the operation may involve:

  • Placement of implants through a small incision

  • Removal of excess skin, glandular tissue or fat

  • Reshaping and repositioning the nipple and breast tissue
